Courses and Workshops

Umpiring is continually changing, with new techniques being developed to up-skill our game along with rule changes and clarifications to keep us on our toes. WDNA has a close relationship with Netball WA and we work together to provide the best education for our umpires with the facilities and resources available.

 

Rules of Netball Theory Examination (accredited)

This exam is multiple choice and covers the rules of the game.  It is free to sit, and you can re-sit it as many times as you would like.  The pass is  70% : this is a requirement  of ALL umpires wishing to umpire at WDNA. The course is free and can be accessed through myNetball. Please ensure that you use the same myNetball number that you use for of your other Netball Activities. Please contact us if you need help.

Rules of Netball Theory Examination

Foundation Umpire Online Course (accredited)

The Foundation  Umpire Online Course (previously Level One) provides an introduction to the basic techniques and knowledge required of a netball umpire. It is for all ages and skill levels.  An umpire has to resit this course every 4 years. Netball Australia has released the course online in 2015 and can be completed here:-

The cost is $35.95, upon completion you will be provided with a certificate, and you will be accredited with this course.

Umpire School Holiday Clinic

April 18th and 19th 2018

COST: $60 pp for BOTH days.

Interested in learning to umpire? Then why no come along to the Holiday Clinic during April and try it out! Two half days full of both theory and practical aspects.

This is highly recommended for all non-C badged umpires.

All participants must be a member of a club affiliated with WDNA or part of the Umpiring Academy.

Enrol through myNetball. Applications will open on the 12th March and close on the 13th April.

No late enrolments will be considered.

Umpiring Rules Discussion

A general rules discussion presented by a Nationally Accredited A Badge Umpire, to discuss interpretations, clarifications and various presentations of scenarios in the game.

COST $5 pp. Held at the WDNA Clubrooms 5PM – 6.30PM (unless otherwise noted)

Umpire Game Management Workshop

A workshop to discuss and consolidate the game management tools that are available to umpires to keep the game flowing, in a controlled manner. Having the disciplinary procedure explained and how to prevent incidents from occurring but also the tools on how to deal with them should they occur.

COST $5pp. Held at the WDNA Clubrooms 5PM – 6.30PM (unless otherwise noted)

Umpire Procedures & Protocols: Coach Education Sessions

A workshop aimed primarily at coaches, managers and players alike, to be educated on the procedures and protocols that the umpires follow to implement the rules of the game, as per the rule book.

COST $5 pp. Held at the WDNA Clubrooms 5.30pm – 6.30pm (unless otherwise noted)
